Rooms, height and volume#
For Room Analysis, prepare placed, enclosed Rooms with usable boundaries. Compare the analysis floor area, height, volume and exposed surfaces with the intended space. Volume derived from area × representative height needs particular review with variable ceilings, atria and coupled spaces.
Analysis height is derived from available Revit room and model information. Where the primary geometry is unavailable or unsuitable, Acouso may use alternative model-derived quantities. Review the effective height for complex or irregular spaces.
Linked models#
Identify the model containing Rooms and the models providing relevant constructions. Load and align required links, then include the intended models in the analysis scope. Similar model or room names do not establish equivalent acoustic inputs.
Existing material mappings and saved results can remain when a link is temporarily unavailable. Model-based actions may be unavailable until its source is loaded again. Retained results represent their saved context; inspect and rerun after meaningful model/input changes.
Ray geometry scope#
Confirm the intended phase, phase filter and geometry scope. Review openings, partitions and relevant surfaces or furnishings. Place the source and listening positions deliberately, including orientation. Missing geometry cannot be assumed to act like the intended construction.
Preparation checklist#
- Confirm the installed ROOM build and its supported Revit host.
- Load, align and include the required host and linked models.
- Check Rooms, boundaries, area, analysis height and volume against known dimensions.
- Choose the intended ray phase and geometry scope where applicable.
- Map constructions to acoustic materials; resolve conflicts, missing references and Generic areas.
- Review finishes, treatment coverage, source properties and receiver placement.
- Run a small representative set; inspect warnings, unavailable values and qualifications.
- Use project-wide schedules to screen rooms, then review exceptions and rerun after changes.
Input failures and practical scope#
Rooms that fail input validation are skipped during schedule preparation, with warnings recorded in the software log. Preparation stops if no valid rooms remain. Check that affected Rooms are placed and enclosed, review their area, analysis height and volume, then correct the model and run analysis again. Compare the resulting schedule with the rooms you intended to analyse; a missing result is not zero.
If a linked room is unavailable, load its source linked model and try again. Resolve missing acoustic material assignments before rerunning; unresolved assignments can cancel analysis. If the issue persists, contact support with the room identifier, the action attempted and the reported warning or error.
Begin with representative room types and model arrangements before project-wide use. There is no universal project-size or linked-model guarantee in this reference. Accepted inputs and tested arrangements are distinct from acoustic modelling assumptions.
